Sohel Somani, MD, FRCSC
Education: Dr. Somani completed his medical degree and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto. He went on to pursue further specialized fellowship training in Medical Retina at the University of Toronto. He entered private practice in 2004 in the North Toronto and Brampton regions, where he has developed a successful cataract surgery and medical retina practice.
Dr. Somani is an Attending Surgeon at Humber Finch, North York Branson, and Brampton Civic Hospitals. He is also affiliated with eyeMD Institute.
Experience: Dr. Somani has performed over 5,000 cataract and anterior segment procedures using the latest technologies, techniques and lens implants including Aspheric, Toric and Multifocal IOL’s. Dr. Somani also provides advanced treatment for various medical diseases of the retina and is also a consultant for the Ocular Oncology Service at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Accomplishments and Awards: Dr. Somani is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto’s Ophthalmology Department. He is engaged in various research endeavors and is a recipient of the John Gaby Research Award. Dr. Somani has published several articles in the scientific literature and has also given presentations at major ophthalmology conferences and courses. He is affiliated with the CNIB eye van for Northern Ontario ophthalmic services.

Eric S. Tam, MD, FRCSC
Educational Background
Dr. Eric Tam completed his medical and ophthalmology training at the University of Toronto. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, he has a successful multi-cultural practice serving patients of diverse cultural backgrounds from across the Greater Toronto Area.
Surgical Experience
Dr. Tam has specialized interest and extensive experience in cataract and refractive surgery with over 5,000 ocular procedures performed. He utilizes the latest cutting edge technologies to deliver wide-ranging and personalized custom vision correction solutions for each of his patients.
Dr. Tam is on staff at the William Osler Health Centre in Brampton, and Mount Sinai Hospital and Kensington Eye Institute in Toronto. He is also an attending surgeon at LASIK MD in all of its Toronto locations.

As Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Dr. Tam has taught numerous ophthalmologists-in-training how to perform cataract surgery using the latest technologies, techniques and lens implants.
Dr. Tam is actively involved with clinical research as co-investigator of a number of international and Canadian clinical trials. He has also presented at major ophthalmology conferences, including meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.
Dr. Tam is the recipient of many academic awards, and also has been specially recognized for his excellent teaching skills as recipient of the award for Best Surgical Teacher at the University of Toronto in 2008.

Daniel Weisbrod, MD, FRCSC
Dr. Weisbrod is Fellowship trained in Medical Retina. His subspecialty practice is focused on Medical Diseases of the Retina. He completed his medical school and ophthalmology residency training at the University of Toronto. He was awarded the Duncan Jamieson Memorial Prize and Woywitka Cup Award for highest standing in his class. He is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous diseases of the retina and vitreous, including age-related macular degeneration and diabetes.
Dr. Weisbrod is a lecturer at the University of Toronto, Department of Ophthalmology. He is on staff at Sunnybrook Hospital and is a consultant on the Ocular Oncology Service at Princess Margaret Hospital where is engaged in academic practice and research endeavors. He has published several articles in the scientific literature and is also heavily involved in the undergraduate medical education. He is an attending surgeon at St. Joseph’s Health Centre
Fariba Nazemi, MD, FRCSC
Dr. Nazemi is fellowship trained in strabismus surgery and pediatric ophthalmology. She has completed her ophthalmology training at the University of Toronto. She practices both comprehensive and pediatric ophthalmology.
Dr. Nazemi's practice includes cataract and strabismus surgery, glaucoma and ocular surface diseases in both adults and children; she has special interest and training in management of strabismus and complicated eye motility problems.
As a lecturer for the University of Toronto ophthalmology program she is active in resident teaching and research. She has published in scientific literature and presented in major national and international conferences.
Dr.Nazemi is also board certified in Iran and fluent in Farsi. She has years of clinical and surgical experience in serving patients with different cultural backgrounds.
Dr.Nazemi is an attending surgeon at Brampton Civic Hospital, and is also on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and North York General Hospital. She also holds surgical privileges at the Hospital for Sick Children and Kensington Eye Institute in Toronto.
Efrem Mandelcorn, MD, FRCSC
Education:
Dr. Mandelcorn completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Ontario where he graduated as a gold medalist. He received his medical degree with honours and subsequently completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He had further specialized fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Toronto and also obtained a second fellowship in surgical retina and surgical posterior uveitis at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, Florida. Dr. Mandelcorn is currently an attending surgeon at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network, University of Toronto.
He was the first fellow to receive an award at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute for Excellence in Teaching. He also received the Best Fellow Award in his first fellowship at the University of Toronto.
He was the recipient of the Duncan Jamieson Memorial Prize and the Woywitka Cup for being the top resident at the University of Toronto over 5 years. He was awarded the PAIRO Trust Residency Teaching Award for being the best resident teacher across all residency programs at the U of Toronto. Other residency awards include the Kensington Eye Institute Resident Cataract Surgery Award , the Dr. Sigmund Vaile Award, the Percy Hermant Fellowship In Ophthalmology, the Alumni Best Resident Research Day Award, the Dr. John Speakman Award, and the R. Gordon Kelly Award.
Dr. Darana Yuen MD, FRCSC

Dr. Darana Yuen is a Canadian trained ophthalmologist. She attended medical school at the University of Alberta and residency at the University of Western Ontario. She then sub-specialized in medical and surgical glaucoma by completing a fellowship at the University of Toronto under the mentorship of renowned glaucoma specialists Drs Graham Trope and Yvonne Buys.
Dr. Yuen is the recipient of prestigious academic accolades. In 2008 she earned recognition for her research by being presented the Canadian Ophthalmology Society Excellence in Research Award. In 2010 she was the winner of the John Gaby Prize for Best Fellow Research. She is well published and has presented her work at major ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally. Dr. Yuen has reviewed articles for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, and has been the guest speaker for organizations such as the CNIB and the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada.
As a vibrant addition to the Greater Toronto Area, Dr. Yuen now practices comprehensive ophthalmology and is experienced in the management of a wide range of ocular diseases, though she has special interest and expertise in glaucoma/ anterior segment.
Dr. Mahmoud Alizadeh-Ebadi MD, FRCSC
Dr. Alizadeh-Ebadi is fellowship trained in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and External Diseases of the eye. He completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Toronto. He went on to complete his fellowship training at the University of Montreal.
In his comprehensive ophthalmology practice, Dr. Ebadi enjoys treating a wide variety of eye conditions with special interest in cataract surgery. His subspecialty practice focuses on medical and surgical diseases of cornea including corneal transplantations.
Dr. Ebadi speaks in English, French, Farsi (Persian), Turkish, and Azeri. He has presented in national and international ophthalmology events and has published in the ophthalmology literature.
